Student Employment

The Office of Student Engagement provides several employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students through our Front Desk Office Assistant, Event Coordinator, and Graduate Assistant positions. Each of the positions provide students with the opportunity to gain professional employment skills in an office setting while also developing event planning and management skills applicable to many jobs outside of higher education.

Office of Student Engagement Front Desk Assistants serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the Office of Student Engagement and provide support to the staff and student services located within the office. Front Desk Assistants typically work between 7-10 hours per week and are paid hourly. In addition to providing front desk support, opportunities exist for the team to assist with some of the events and activities that office sponsors throughout the year. Positions are posted on handshake when available and traditionally one or two are hired each semester.

Campus Attractions and Volunteer Network Event Coordinators serve the NDSU study body by creating and implementing a wide array of student events and activities for their peers to engage with and are supporting by the professional Office of Student Engagement staff. Event Assistants work on average 10-15 hours a week with the majority of their time centered around event management, flexible scheduling is required. These positions receive a stipend each semester and are not eligible for a tuition waiver. Positions are posted on handshake when available and traditionally one or two are hired each semester.

Graduate Assistantship serve a specific functional area within Student Engagement and are members of the professional team. Each of the Graduate Assistantships requires event coordination experience and experience in the customer service/student development field. These positions are nine-month positions and include a monthly stipend and tuition waiver. Positions are typically posted on handshake and through the Graduate School and hired in March-April for the upcoming academic year.
