NDSU Equestrian Team ends season with 2 students competing at nationals

The NDSU Equestrian Team capped off an outstanding season by earning national recognition after a dominant performance throughout the regular season. The team claimed both the Regional High Point Western Team and Regional High Point Hunt Seat Team championships, while senior Hannah Strong was named the Regional High Point Western Rider.

Youth livestock judging camp returns

For the first time since 2022, the NDSU Livestock Judging Team hosted a youth livestock judging camp in Fargo. From June 30 through July 2, Jacob Klaudt, Merle Light livestock evaluation coach, and members of the 2026 and 2027 NDSU Livestock Judging Teams welcomed 26 participants from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and Ohio.

Undergraduate ANSC student shares research

Olivia Rosenthal, a senior from Fargo majoring in animal science, presented a poster during NDSU Student Research Days in April. The title of the poster was “Effects of One Carbon Metabolite Supplementation on Placental Vascular Development at Mid-Gestation (Day 161) in Nutrient-Restricted Beef Heifers.”

This summer, Drs. Carrie Hammer and Lauren Hanna welcomed undergraduate students Addison Duncan and Megan Broecker from Purdue University as part of the Bridging the Gap Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEU) program.

Public gets look at pigs' new digs

On June 12, the NDSU Swine Research and Teaching Center opened its doors to more than 75 guests to celebrate the completion of its expansion. Guests included stakeholders, NDSU staff and faculty, students and faculty from South Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota, plus industry partners of the unit including Topigs Norsvin and Comparts Boar Store.

At 25, ANPC is built to last

Where at NDSU can you find steers, bulls, pigs, mice and blackbirds under the same roof? This spring you could find all those species at the Animal Nutrition and Physiology Center, or ANPC. It is home to a wide array of animals, and some strange bedfellows, as professors conduct research there, primarily in the areas of growth, nutrition and reproduction.
