SPIN

SPIN is the world’s largest database of funding opportunities, including both public and private sponsors. NDSU faculty, staff, and students have access to SPIN through the university’s subscription. Users can save custom search parameters and activate SPIN Matching And Research Transmittal Service (SMARTS) emails to be notified of new programs that match the pre-defined criteria.

SPIN can be accessed from any NDSU desktop on campus, but to save and manage funding searches users need to log into the system. Access from off campus also requires log-in. More information can be found at NDSU's Research and Creative Activity's Spin Searchable Database page.

Grants.Gov

Grants.Gov allows users to search for federal, government-wide grant opportunities. No subscription is required. 

Candid

The Foundation Center and Guidestar merged as Candid. You can verify nonprofits through Guidestar, and research foundation funding opportunities through the Foundation Center Directory, and find information on improving your nonprofit or learning about the world of foundation funding. The Foundation Directory needs a subscription to make good use of it; however, you can access the database yourself through the Fargo Public Library Online Resources, by using their computers or by being on their wireless at one of their locations. A valid FPL Library card is required to use their computers.

Searching for grants and fellowships

SPIN includes more than 40,000 funding opportunities from public and private sponsors. It can be your one-stop place to search for opportunities; however, if you want to try something else, consider one of the following:

CARAT: Database at Harvard of opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

ProFellow: Database and blog with information on professional and academic fellowships in a variety of fields. Free subscription is required. The blog includes stories and tips from successful fellows.

Foundation Center: Foundation Grants to Individuals Online: Requires a subscription or access to a Foundation Center library or Funding Information Network location. The Fargo Public Library is in this network, and you can access the Foundation Directory at their three locations.
