Online Application

The NDGS application is designed to help us understand your academic strengths, interests, and readiness for a full-time residential experience. The online application portal allows you to start your application, save your progress, and return to it at any time. You’ll also have the opportunity to review everything before submitting.

Quality applications take time—please start early and give yourself adequate time to thoughtfully complete each section. Before submitting, double-check that all information is accurate and complete.

Below is a breakdown of the components you’ll need to submit.

Provide your full name, contact information, and school details.
Tip: Double-check that your email and phone number are current—you’ll receive important communication through them. Make sure to also include accurate parent/guardian contact information.

Upload an unofficial transcript showing your academic performance and GPA.
Tip: Your school counselor or principal can help you obtain this. A screenshot or PDF from your student portal is typically acceptable.

Rank your top two choices for NDGS learning pathways.
Tip: While we do our best to honor your first choice, each program is limited. Be prepared to attend your second choice if needed. In your essays and references, highlight experiences or interests that support your top-choice pathway.

In 250 words or less, tell us about a personal experience, activity, or attribute that sets you apart. Explain why it’s meaningful to you.
Examples: Hobbies, service projects, job experience, creative work, or challenges you’ve overcome.
Tip: Choose something that reflects your curiosity, leadership, or dedication—especially if it connects to your chosen pathway.

List significant awards, accomplishments, leadership roles, or extracurricular involvement since 9th grade.
Tip: Focus on quality, not quantity. Highlight activities that align with your academic interests and show initiative, impact, or growth.

Provide contact information (name and email address) for two recommendations:

  1. A teacher who can speak to your academic strengths and interests in your selected learning pathway
  2. A principal or school counselor who can verify your academic performance and motivation

Tip: Choose recommenders who know you well and can speak to your potential. Be sure to ask them before listing them, and let them know they’ll receive an email with instructions to complete your reference.
