Sample Processing Lab
The Sample Processing Laboratory plays a vital role in wheat quality research as the first step in the evaluation process. Our primary focus is on ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of samples before they progress to further stages of testing. This foundational work in cleaning, preparation, and preliminary analysis supports the Milling Lab and underpins all subsequent quality assessments.
Upon receiving grain samples, we carefully clean and inspect them to remove any foreign materials and ensure uniformity. The lab performs essential grain analyses, including test weight, protein and moisture content, as well as 1000-kernel weight and seed count to evaluate sample characteristics.
After milling, flour is blended using precision equipment to achieve homogeneity prior to advanced testing. The laboratory also conducts particle size analysis and measures flour moisture, protein, and ash content.
As the entry point for all wheat quality experiments, the Sample Processing Laboratory provides the foundation for accurate and meaningful research outcomes. Our work ensures that each sample is processed to the highest standards of quality assurance, supporting collaboration across the broader wheat quality research program.
