Poetry, printmaking workshop set

"Signs of the time: The David Martinson Memorial Poetry/Printmaking Workshop," is scheduled for Friday, March 13, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Renaissance Hall room 314. The workshop combines writing with printmaking.

Optional demonstrations are scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 9 a.m. or Friday, March 13, at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Workshop participants will contribute one piece to be published in an anthology at the conclusion of the workshop. Contributions will be bound together with a cover page designed by visiting artist Stephen Frech and workshop instructors. Included will be demonstrations of letterpress printing, in addition to other printmaking techniques. The anthologies will be hand-bound and given to every participant at the end of the workshop.

Frech is the founder and editor of Oneiros Press, publisher of limited edition, letterpress poetry broadsides. He is an associate professor of English at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He earned degrees from Northwestern University, Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Cincinnati. He received the Elliston Poetry Writing Fellowship and Milton Center Post-Graduate Writing Fellowship.

There is a registration fee of $50, with an additional materials fee of $10.
