Beef Production Day set for Jan. 20

NDSU’s North Central Research Extension Center will host the 2009 Beef Production Day on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Grant Buck of Farm Service Agency, Minot, N.D., will present “Farm bill concerns for the cattleman.” Becky Braaten of Farm Credit Services, Bottineau, N.D., will discuss “Using precipitation insurance to protect range and pasture.” Tim Petry, NDSU livestock marketing economist, will give a talk on “Rising cost of production and price outlook for 2009.” Greg Lardy, NDSU beef cattle specialist, will present “Using corn byproducts to stretch feed supplies.” Kevin Sedivec, NDSU range management specialist, will give a talk titled “Plan now for late-fall grazing.”

The program also will include a free beef supper and beef hoop barn presentation by a representative from Hoop Beef System, Vermillion, S.D. The event is free and no registration is necessary.

The North Central Research Extension Center is located one mile south of Minot on U.S. Highway 83.
