Food safety webinars start Aug. 17

Field to Fork Wednesday weekly webinars are scheduled to be relaunched Aug. 17.

The series is an effort to increase North Dakotans’ knowledge of food safety in growing, transporting, processing and preserving fruits and vegetables.

The webinars, held Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., will be provided free of charge.

The schedule:

Aug. 17: Extending the Growing Season and Putting the Garden to Bed – Tom Kalb, Extension horticulturist

Aug. 24: Sauerkraut and Beyond: Food Fermentation 101 - Cliff Hall, professor, plant sciences department, and Julie Garden-Robinson, Extension food and nutrition specialist

Aug. 31: The Joy of Fall Bulb Planting: Garlic and Tulips - Todd Weinmann, agriculture and natural resources/horticulture agent, Cass County

Sept. 14: Growing Microgreens in Your Home - Esther McGinnis, Extension horticulturist

The webinars will be held on Blackboard Collaborate. A registration link is on the NDSU Extension Field to Fork website. Archived webinars also will be available on the site.
