NDSU Department of Plant Sciences master’s student Calli Feland was awarded first place for her poster presentation in the Marvin Stone Memorial Poster Competition at the Nitrogen Use Efficiency annual conference Aug. 8-10 at the University of Idaho, Boise.

Feland co-wrote the poster, “Impact of Nitrogen Type, Timing, and Additives on Grain Yield and Protein in Hard Red Spring Wheat,” with her adviser, Joel Ransom, professor and Extension agronomist.

The Nitrogen Use Efficiency conference brings together agronomists, biogeochemists, farmers, economists, sociologists, extension agents, educators and policy experts from the public and private sectors, with the aim to identify major impediments to improved nutrient management and to make recommendations.
