Virginia Sublett, associate professor of voice, will have an article published in the May/June 2009 issue of the Journal of Singing. The article, titled “Vibrato vs. Non-Vibrato in Choral and Solo Singing,” addresses the stylistic issues and aesthetic preferences that can cause conflict between choir directors and voice teachers, especially at the university level with regard to vocal production.

The Journal of Singing also has accepted an article for future publication by NDSU Music doctoral candidate Erin Oberlander. Her article is titled “Premenstrual Syndrome and its Effect on Laryngeal Functionality.”

Published five times a year by the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The Journal of Singing provides current information regarding the teaching of singing as well as results of recent research in the field.

Sublett joined the faculty in 2004, teaching applied voice, opera theatre and voice-related academic subjects. She also has taught at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of San Diego.
