Bison Academy Awards set for April 29

The NDSU Athletics and the Office of Orientation and Student Success will honor student-athletes at the first annual Bison Academy Awards on Wednesday, April 29, at 8 p.m. at Festival Concert Hall.

Rebecca Iwanicki, a member of the soccer team, and Brett Winkelman, a member of the men's basketball team, will serve as the masters of ceremonies. Gene Taylor, director of athletics, and Lynn Dorn, women's athletic director, will speak at the event. Deland Myers, faculty athletics representative, will give closing remarks. A jazz quintet will serve as entertainment.

Student-athletes from all sports will have a representative who will receive an award in the following categories:

Bison Academic Performance Award
Outstanding performance of a student-athlete who has made the dean’s list for one semester.

Bison Academic Achievement Award
Outstanding performance of a student-athlete who has made the dean’s list for two consecutive semesters.

Bison Academic Excellence Award
Outstanding performance of a student-athlete who has made the dean’s list for two consecutive semesters with at least one grade-point average of 4.0.

Bison Most Valuable Scholar Award
Outstanding performance of a graduating senior student-athlete with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 and above.

Thundering Herd Team Academic Award
Outstanding performance by a men's and women's team with the highest overall grade-point average.
