NDSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council organized a food drive Feb. 4-18 as part of The Summit League's annual "Food Fight" involving all nine of the league's member institutions. All proceeds at NDSU benefited the Fargo Emergency Food Pantry.

With the help of student-athlete volunteers, the council raised $2,163 in cash and collected 2,196 pounds of food over the two-week span. Based on the rules of the Food Fight, $5 was equivalent to 13 pounds of food, bringing NDSU's grand total to 7,819.8 pounds of non-perishable foods for donation.

Student-athletes collected through door-to-door visits and accepted donations at NDSU's home wrestling duals and men's and women's basketball games.

"Once again, the continued support that the Fargo community gives to us is tremendous," said Kevin Folman, NDSU baseball player and Food Fight chair. "Without our great fan base, we couldn't make any fundraiser or charity event possible."

As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
