NDSU offers Emergency Preparedness Expo

SHARE

The second annual Emergency Preparedness Expo is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Memorial Union Prairie Rose room. The event will focus on providing information and education on hazard awareness and preparedness. It is sponsored by the NDSU International Association of Emergency Management and the NDSU Emergency Management Program.

NDSU’s Ready Campus Initiative will sponsor “Floats for the Flood” from noon to 2 p.m. Participants can also learn more about preventative measures for the H1N1 flu season while receiving a free root beer float.

A brief speaker session will commence at 12:30 p.m. featuring John Adams, vice president for Finance and Administration; Greg Wilz, North Dakota director of Homeland Security; Dennis Walaker, Mayor of Fargo; and representatives from North Dakota’s congressional delegation.

A "Will Over Water" book signing is planned to follow the speaker session (approximately 1 p.m.). The Forum will have copies of the commemorative book available at the Expo for a reduced price of $10.95. It normally sells for $19.95. Walaker and other dignitaries will sign copies of the book.

Door prizes will be given out every half hour. A silent auction, featuring donations from across the community and campus, will benefit the goals and initiatives of the NDSU International Association of Emergency. Items include sandbags autographed by Walaker and other key leaders in the flood fight.
