Mack named distinguished alumni

Kyle Mack, associate professor of music and director of jazz studies at NDSU, was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award at Dickinson State University during their Homecoming events, Sept. 28 through Oct.3. Mack was featured in master classes with the music department, participated in the Homecoming parade and was announced at the football game during his visit. 

Mack attended Dickinson State University from 1977-81 and graduated with a double major in choral and instrumental music education. He has directed elementary through college band programs in North Dakota, Maryland and Iowa. He came to NDSU in 1993.

He is an active clinician, performer, adjudicator and guest conductor throughout the region. He is a member of the International Trombone Association, Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He serves as the music director of the Fargo-Moorhead Jazz Arts Group Big Band and coordinates an annual high school jazz festival every February. Mack is an endorsing artist for the Selmber/Bach Corp.
