The NDSU Wind Symphony, conducted by Warren Olfert, associate professor of music, has been invited to perform at the College Band Directors National Association Regional Conference in Bloomington, Ill., on Feb. 25-27.

“This is the first time in our history that NDSU has been selected to perform at a College Band Directors National Association conference,” Olfert said. “We’re deeply honored with the selection and are very excited for the opportunity to represent our school and state at this prestigious conference. It represents a lot of work on the part of students and faculty and I’m privileged to be a part of what should be a great event in our history as a band program at NDSU.”

The Wind Symphony is one of seven bands selected to perform at the conference. Other bands include Illinois State University Wind Symphony, Ball State Wind Ensemble, Indiana University Wind Ensemble, Central Michigan University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Grand Valley State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Illinois Chamber Winds. Each band was selected through blind auditions from performances of the previous year.
