Three members of NDSU's Western Equestrian Team have earned a trip to semifinal competition at Cal Poly in Pomona, Calif., at the end of March.

Juniors Jenna Benjaminson of Walhalla, N.D., Sara Holman of Glyndon, Minn., and freshman Juliann Zach of Rosholt, S.D., will attend the competition. They were among eight team members who competed at a postseason regional horse show hosted by the University of Minnesota-Crookston on March 7.

To advance in postseason competition, exhibitors must place first or second in their classes.

Benjaminson won first place in novice horsemanship, Holman placed second in advanced horsemanship and Zach took second in walk trot horsemanship at the Crookston event.

Janelle Lanoue, a junior from Alexandria, Minn., placed fifth in open horsemanship. Amanda Grev, a junior from Rochester, Minn., placed fifth and Shannon Voges, a junior from Courtland, Minn., placed sixth in novice horsemanship. Megan Mueller, a freshman from Hillsboro, N.D., placed sixth in intermediate horsemanship and Alyssa Jorgenson, a junior from West Fargo, N.D., received an honorable mention.
