Five FORWARD advocates appointed

SHARE

FORWARD has selected a second group of five male faculty to be advocates in the Advance FORWARD project. Clifford Hall, associate professor in the School of Food Systems; Herb Snyder, associate professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems; Sean Sather-Wagstaff, assistant professor of mathematics; Gary Totten, associate professor of English, and Om Yadav, assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, have been chosen as advocates.

Current advocates will continue in their role until next year. They include Eugene Berry, Department of Veterinary and Microbiological Sciences; Kevin Brooks, Department of English; Tom Carlson, Department of Child Development and Family Science; Doğan Çömez, Department of Mathematics; Roger Green, Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering; Mark Meister, Department of Communication; Larry Peterson, Department of History; and Mark Sheridan, Department of Biological Sciences.

Advocates are active proponents of gender diversity and equality and support women faculty members in departments, colleges and the university. This year, the initial group of advocates developed and piloted training for male faculty who volunteer as allies. The training will be further revised and offered for allies in the coming academic year.

No formal application is required for male faculty who are interested in becoming allies. If interested in volunteering as an ally in the Advance FORWARD project, watch for announcements about training. Additional expectations for allies are listed at www.ndsu.edu/forward in the Advance FORWARD Initiatives section.
