During the last two years, two of the five most frequently cited papers in the Journal of Coatings Technology and Research are contributions from the NDSU Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials.

One article is “Water Sorption and Diffusional Properties of a Cured Epoxy Resin Measured Using Alternating Ionic Liquids/Aqueous Electrolytes in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy,” which was published in December 2008 by Brian R. Hinderliter, Kerry N. Allahar, Gordon P. Bierwagen, Dennis E. Tallman and Stuart G. Croll.

The other article is “Concurrent Physical Aging and Degradation of Crosslinked Coating Systems in Accelerated Weathering,” which was published in September 2008 by Xiaodong Shi, B. M. Dilhan Fernando and Croll.

In one year, the department typically publishes more than 40 journal articles, gives more than 50 presentations (many overseas) and develops eight to 10 invention disclosures.
