NDSU’s chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society was recognized as a gold-level chapter for 2009-10 during the organization’s international conference July 15-17 in Scottsdale, Ariz. The chapter received the distinction, which is the highest status possible, for the sixth consecutive year.

Bonnie Cooper, chapter adviser, and Kalayvani Narainasamy, executive vice president, represented the chapter at the conference.

Cooper was sworn in as International Leadership Council secretary. She will assist the five-member council in overseeing the academic integrity of the society, approving institutions for chartering of chapters and overseeing all chapter activity for Golden Key members.

Cooper was a charter officer when NDSU’s chapter was formed in 1995, and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech communication. Narainasamy is a senior from Klang, Malaysia, majoring in microbiology and zoology.

Golden Key was founded in 1977 and has 375 chapters worldwide.
