The Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth at NDSU recently announced it will begin awarding a large number of scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year. Recipients of the scholarships will be students majoring in international studies or global business.

“This will be NDSU’s newest and most exciting international education program,” said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. “It will be irresistible to students interested in a provocative college experience.”

Each scholarship is for $2,000, and is available to incoming freshman and current students. The goal is to help advance the mission of the institute by supporting students wanting to broaden their international educational experience. Students can reapply for the scholarships every year, but must maintain a strong academic record, be enrolled in a major in international studies or global business and attend Challey Institute events in order to renew the scholarship.

“This is a great example of the kind of impact that benefactors are making at NDSU,” said John Glover, president and CEO of the NDSU Foundation. “With the capacity to fund up to 80 scholarships, this program will provide a great opportunity for students to learn about big ideas and the world around them.”

Tanya Kramer, assistant director of study abroad at NDSU, said, “One of the reasons more NDSU students don’t study abroad is due to its extra costs. I’m excited about these scholarships and the impact they will have in supporting students to study abroad who otherwise might not be able to afford it.”

The Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth aims to advance understanding in innovation, trade and institutions to identify policies and solutions that enhance economic growth and opportunity.
