SHARE

The NDSU Extension Service offered a training seminar on the Gearing Up for Kindergarten parent education and school readiness program for children Oct. 27 in Jamestown, N.D.

The training event provided community leaders and education professionals with information on the Gearing Up for Kindergarten program and how to implement it in their school during the 2011-12 academic year.

Gearing Up for Kindergarten is a 16-week family education program developed by the NDSU Extension Service. The program is available to local schools and entities that facilitate child development, healthy parenting and school readiness for families with pre-kindergarten children in the year prior to kindergarten. The North Dakota Legislature made funds available to schools and school districts to implement Gearing Up for Kindergarten and facilitate greater parent involvement and school readiness for pre-kindergarten children.
