Kimberly Vachal, associate professor of transportation and logistics and Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute program director, was among a group of leading authorities recently quoted in a WalletHub story.

The story, titled “Driving Record Check: How to better understand your driving record and how to get a copy in your state,” was written by car insurance writer McKayla Girardin. It was dated April 5, 2022.

Vachal was one of six experts from across the country who were quoted.

The article describes how people in each state can view their driving record and how to fix any errors.

“It is prudent to monitor activity on one’s driver’s license to ensure it is accurate,” Vachal said in the article. “Companies do occasionally query these systems for individuals they insure, or seek to insure; but I am not aware of any recommendation for drivers to periodically check these records themselves.”

Vachal joined NDSU in 1999. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics at NDSU and her doctorate in public policy analysis at George Mason University. Her research and outreach focuses on safe and secure transportation in rural regions.
