NDSU faculty to present at College Music Society national conference

NDSU Challey School of Music faculty members Kelly Burns, Cassie Keogh and Karisa Templeton are scheduled to perform or present at the 65th College Music Society National Conference in Long Beach, California.

Burns is an assistant professor of voice, Keogh is an associate professor of clarinet and Templeton is an assistant professor of voice.

Templeton is set to present a research paper titled "Expanding Undergraduate Voice Pedagogy Curricula: Academic Options and Considerations for Implementation" on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. Central time. Completed in December 2021, Templeton's thesis was in partial fulfillment of her Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University.

"Ensemble Lirica," comprised of Burns, Keogh and doctoral student Thiago André, is scheduled to perform a musical piece composed by fellow faculty member Kyle Vanderburg titled "Letters to the Poetry Editor" on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4:45 p.m. Central time. The piece debuted at the Challey School of Music on Feb. 13.

The College Music Society is one of the country's largest multi-disciplinary college music organizations. Along with faculty groups and assemblies, it also includes student organizations. NDSU is one of four student chapters of the College Music Society across the United States and the only chapter west of the Mississippi River.
