Sanford Health to be NDSU’s first Campus Community Partner

NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani has established a program to recognize private sector collaborations with the university that benefit the community. NDSU’s first Campus Community Partner is Sanford Health.

NDSU and Sanford’s most recent collaboration is the new Center for Life Sciences Research and Applications that will conduct research on human genomics and bioinformatics. The initial focus is expected to include research on breast cancer and certain rare diseases in children.

“NDSU is fortunate to work with Sanford Health on a number of projects that make a difference in the lives of people in our community, state and beyond,” Bresciani said. “The potential to strengthen our collaborations and subsequent contributions is limited only by the imagination.”

“Opportunities to invest that impact the vitality and diversity of a community are what Sanford feels add value and enrich our lives,” said Sanford Fargo Medical Center president Dennis Millirons. “We see that in our partnerships with NDSU. Your success and the success of your students will impact the world. We take great pride in being a small part of that.”

Sanford Health will be recognized as a Campus Community Partner Wednesday, April 25, with a 9 a.m. flag raising ceremony at the NDSU flag pavilion. The NDSU and Sanford flags will be raised on the same pole, symbolically demonstrating the partnership the organizations share in the best interests of the communities they serve.

Sanford Health also will be recognized at that evening’s baseball game where the Bison take on the Minnesota Gophers at Newman Outdoor Field.

The NDSU flag pavilion is located near the southwest corner of campus on 12th Avenue.

NDSU is an economic engine of the state, a top-ranked – and growing – national research power.
