NDSU’s Epsilon Delta chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity received the 2012 True Merit Award at the 80th Biennial Congress of the fraternity in St. Louis Aug. 4.

The True Merit Award emphasizes commitment to the mission of the fraternity, including positive community and campus involvement. The Epsilon Delta chapter also excelled in these chapter operations: Campus involvement and leadership development, communication, financial management, pledge education, recruitment, ritual and summer recruitment.

The award was established in 1969 as the Chapter Efficiency Award. In 1975, the award’s name was changed to the Chapter Excellence Award and in
1979, it was renamed the True Merit Award.

NDSU is recognized as one of the top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
