Several faculty and graduate students in the criminal justice and political science department published research and will present at a conference in November.
Carol A. Archbold, associate professor of criminal justice, will have her book, “Policing: A Text/Reader,” published with Sage Publications in November.
Archbold and Dorothy Schulz, professor at John Jay College in New York, had their article, “Research on Women in Policing: A Look at the Past, Present and Future,” accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal, Sociology Compass.
Additionally, Archbold and doctoral student Ericka Wentz published an article, “Police perceptions of sexual assault victims: Exploring the intra-female gender hostility thesis,” in the peer-reviewed journal, Police Quarterly.
Several faculty and graduate students will present at the American Society of Criminology Conference scheduled for Nov.14-17 in Chicago. Presentations include:
• Archbold and doctoral student McKenzie Wood will present the paper, “Bad Touches, Getting Away, and Never Keeping Secrets: An Examination of the Efficacy of the ‘Red Flag Green Flag People’ Program.”
• Archbold and doctoral student Thorvald Dahle will present the paper, “ ‘I Wish the Hitting would Stop’... An Assessment of a Domestic Violence Education Program for Elementary Students.”
• Archbold, master’s student Melinda Fangman and doctoral students Dahle, Wentz and McKenzie Wood will present the paper, “Racial profiling in the news: Accurate portrayal or perpetuation of myth?”
• Sarah Browning, assistant professor of criminal justice, and Fangman will present the paper, “Assessing the Effectiveness of an Adult Drug Court with a More Plausible Comparison Group.”
