NDSU center fielder Tim Colwell and starting pitcher John Straka were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 team in Division I baseball by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America on Friday, May 3.

Colwell, a junior from Shoreview, Minn., has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in university studies. Straka, a senior from Chaska, Minn., has a 3.89 GPA in exercise science. Both players advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America honors to be announced Friday, May 31.

This is the second Academic All-District award for Colwell, who advanced to the Academic All-America first team last spring.

These are NDSU’s ninth and tenth selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-District at the University Division or Division I level since 2006.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
