Assistant professor named fellow of engineering and technology group

Samee Khan, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been elected a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The honor is awarded to individuals who have sustained high levels of achievement at the forefront of engineering or related fields through leadership, influence, senior responsibility, innovation and professional service.

Fellowship is determined by peer assessment and awarded by a panel of fellows from within the relevant scope of the applicants' role. The institution has a membership base of 150,000, of which only 9,500 have the fellowship status. At 35 years of age, Khan is one of only four fellows within his age range.

Khan's research interests include cloud and big-data computing, social networking, and reliability. His work has appeared in more than 200 publications. He also is a fellow of the British Computer Society.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
