NDSU communicators win awards

Three NDSU communicators won awards in the 2013 North Dakota Professional Communicators communications contest.

Ellen Crawford, information specialist in the agriculture communication department, received:

  • First place – Public relations materials (reports) for her work on the 2012 Annual Highlights publication
  • First place – news story for her article on the Junior Master Gardener program
  • Second place – news story for her article on the 4-H program’s impact on youth

Becky Koch, director of the agriculture communication department, won:

  • First place – Public relations materials (magapapers/tabloids) for her work on the horticulture and forestry Ag magazine
  • Second place – photo essay for an article in the 2012 Annual Highlights on the State Board of Agricultural Research and Education

Carol Renner, communications manager for the Office of Research, Creative Activities, and Technology Transfer, earned:

  • First place – news or feature release (single release) about a student’s experience at NDSU leading to publication in a major science journal
  • Second – news of feature release (single release) on antennaless radio-frequency ID tags 

The communicators received their awards at the North Dakota Professional Communicators’ recent conference in Minot, N.D.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation’s top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
