NDSU’s vice president for student affairs, Prakash Mathew, has announced his intention to retire June 30, 2014.

“I feel very fortunate that NDSU is part of my professional and personal life – in fact NDSU is my second family,” Mathew wrote in a letter to President Dean L. Bresciani. “I am committed to leaving the Division of Student Affairs in excellent shape for my successor. I believe it is the right time to begin a new chapter in my life, and it has long been my desire to retire when I am still at the top of my game.”

Mathew began working at NDSU in 1976. He attended graduate school here starting in 1971. He will remain active in the community and with the university. “I am excited to continue to be associated with the Bison family.”

Bresciani said, “Prakash has been a leader of the highest integrity, and had a lasting impact on thousands of students over his many years of service. I have a great deal of respect for his commitment to NDSU. He has literally been the heart of NDSU for 30-plus years.”

A national search will be conducted.
