Invitation to Federal Research Projects Q&A Session

February 27, 2025

Dear Business Coordinators,

I hope this email finds you well.

At the initiative of Lisa Montplaisir and originally sent out to all Faculty, we are excited to invite you to an informative Q&A session on federal research projects, scheduled for Monday, March 3, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Anishinaabe Theater. This session is designed to be solution-oriented and will explore possibilities even if they are not currently possible. RCA and GCA will be present to provide insights and address your questions.

RCA and GCA knows how important Business Coordinators are in the process and feel this is a great opportunity to expand the audience and keep the messaging consistent.

Topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • Grant Process: Information on how grants work on campus once awarded to a PI, including the line of credit/reimbursement by agency model.
  • Operational Principles: Basic principles of operation, such as payroll processes for work done and the timely input of reimbursements.
  • Shared Vision: Discussions on alleviating barriers, including what is allowed and when, to prepurchase, the internal grant review compliance process if necessary, and furloughs/payroll deductions on short-term shifts.
  • Support Structures: Guidance on keeping up with changes, notifications, and potential halts.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the federal research project processes and to ask any questions you may have.

We look forward to your participation.

Best regards,

Kevin Dockter
