Roommate Matching
New-to-NDSU Students
If you're new to NDSU next year as a first-year or transfer student, here are 4 ways to choose a roommate!
1. Roommate Matching Software
Find your roommate through our roommate matching software! We will share more information with students and their families in the fall, before roommate selection opens on December 1.
2. Match With Someone You Know
If you know whom you want to room with, you can use our software to "match up" with them in our system when you get acess in December.
3. LGBTQ+ Roommate Matching
Residence Life is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students who live on campus. The LGBTQ+ Roommate Matching process has been established for students who identify as LGBTQ+ and for those who are allies.
4. Room Assignment by Residence Life
Are you cool with whoever ends up in your room? No problem! Just sit back and relax. Residence Life will pair you with a roommate, and you will be notified on Campus Connection after an assignment has been made.
Upper-Division Students
Residence Halls
If you are currently living on campus and want to live in a residence hall next year with a roommate, you will use our roommate matching system. Whether you want to meet someone new or match up with someone you know, this will be the official way to match up in our housing system!
Information will be communicated to you in December as the process begins in early January.
Apartments
NDSU Residence Life does not automatically assign roommates to apartment tenants, as is done in the residence halls.
How to Participate
Complete the NDSU Apartments Roommate Matching Request Form to get started, then we will communicate more details and information with you. Please note this is for current NDSU students.
