TRIO Student Support Services (SSS)

What is TRIO SSS?

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) at North Dakota State University is a grant program that assists undergraduate students in reaching their full potential. Funded by the Department of Education since 1979, we provide several free services designed to nurture academic achievement, enable professional development, and spur personal growth.

Program Eligibility

SSS is funded to serve 350 undergraduate students annually. Our services are available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • First Generation College Student: Parent(s) or guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor’s degree.
  • Income Eligible: Assessed according to federal taxable income guidelines and household size.
  • Student with a Disability: Students who have a documented disability.

To be considered for TRIO SSS at NDSU students must first complete and submit our online application.

  • One-on-one tutoring, in-person and online
  • Priority/early class registration
  • Grant aid (helps cover unmet educational need)
  • Academic and self-improvement workshops
  • Financial literacy
  • Supplemental math instruction
  • Supplemental writing instruction
  • Academic peer mentoring
  • Holistic student advisement
  • Computer lab and study lounge
  • Career and graduate school planning

*Services provided up to six years.
