Peer Tutoring:
Available virtually or in Ceres 404, these individual sessions promote good study habits while supporting academic needs. Students should prepare for tutoring sessions by bringing the syllabus, course materials, textbook and questions. Scheduling instructions/ link found below.
Writing Support:
Students work with the SSS English Specialist on all aspects of writing. When possible, assignment prompts, drafts, and questions should be submitted prior to the appointment. Unique scheduling instructions are located after the tutoring instructions.
Schedule a Peer Tutoring Appointment:
(TRIO SSS students only)
Instructions:
- Log into Bison Advise.
- Under the Connect column, click on "Schedule a Tutoring Session."
- Click the "+ Create" button to begin setting up your appointment.
- Under Service Areas, select "TRIO Programs" — this ensures your tutoring is through TRIO SSS.
- Under Session Types, choose the subject you need help with.
- Under Courses, start typing your course name (e.g., MATH-103). After a few keystrokes, your current semester courses will appear. Click on the correct course.
- You can choose a specific tutor or skip this step if you don’t have a preference.
- Select a date to view available appointment times.
- Choose a time slot that works for you.
- Select your location: either In-Person at Ceres 404 or Zoom Meeting.

Click "Create" to finalize your appointment.
Your tutoring appointment will now appear under the Calendar tab in Bison Advise. If it's a Zoom session, the link will be included. You can also review or cancel your appointment from there.
Schedule a TRIO Writing Support Appointment:
(TRIO SSS students only)
- Click the Direct Link: Use this Bison Advise link to go directly to the TRIO Writing Support Professional’s scheduling page.
- Choose a Time: Find a day and time that works for you, then click “Schedule” next to that slot.
- Select Modality: Choose whether you want to meet In Person or via a Virtual Meeting.
- Pick a Session Topic: From the dropdown, select Academic Support Meeting.
- Add Session Notes: In the Session Note box, briefly describe what you plan to work on. Be as specific as possible (e.g., “Reviewing my English 110 paper draft”).
- Attach Documents (Optional but Helpful): Upload any documents you'd like the writing support professional to review before your meeting (e.g., drafts, assignment guidelines).

Confirm Your Appointment: Click “Schedule Appointment” to finalize your booking.

Appointment Information:
- You MUST be a TRIO SSS student to use these services.
- Tutoring appointments are in 30-minute increments.
- Students can schedule two sessions back-to-back for a longer 1-hour session. No more than 2 sessions in a row.
- Appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
- No more than 2 sessions for one course in a single day.

The TRIO SSS Study Center in Ceres 404 is a quiet, card-access-only space reserved for TRIO SSS students. It provides a supportive environment for independent study, individual tutoring, academic resources, and computer lab access—all designed to help you succeed.
TRIO Study Center Hours:
Monday through Thursday: 8 am - 7 pm
Friday: 8 am - 5 pm
