Pre-Deployment Information

Future Enrollment Information

Students serving in the National Guard and Reserve are encouraged to notify NDSU when they are called to active duty. Please contact Military & Veterans Certification, 112 Morrill Hall (701-231-7985 or 1-800-608-NDSU) prior to leaving campus. The following information is provided to assist students when activated.

Withdrawal Options

Students who need to withdraw from classes due to military deployment/activation may do so by submitting the Withdrawal to Zero Credits Form to NDSU One Stop. Forms will be processed according to published dates and deadlines for the semester. Students who wish to receive a 100% refund are required to submit a copy of their activation orders, along with a request for refund, to the Military and Veterans Services office, 112 Morrill Hall.

Please note that receiving a refund from NDSU on tuition and fees may result in a repayment to the Department of Veterans Affairs for any education benefits received during that time.

Other options may exist, such as dropping select courses or requesting grades of incomplete. These options are subject to university academic policy; exceptions may be considered with the submission of activation orders.  Questions should be directed to the Military and Veterans Certification office at 701-231-7985.

The NDSU faculty is encouraged to provide a reasonable accommodation to students who have been called to active duty for completing their semester course work. The State Board of Higher Education Policy 510: Rights of Students Called to Active Military Service was approved November 2002.

Graduate students are also encouraged to contact the Graduate School before leaving campus for information on leave of absence procedures for their degree program.

Residence Life

Students who live in the residence halls or university apartments should contact the Residence Life Office (701-231-7557 or 1-800-572-8840) to coordinate the withdrawal process. If after 5:00 p.m., please contact the hall staff or any complex manager for assistance.

Students in the residence halls will be refunded all remaining room and board costs. This amount is prorated using the daily rate for housing and dining. The intent is to accommodate these students and they will only pay for the time they were living in the halls and eating at the dining centers.

National Guard & Reserve students with families living in the university student apartments are asked to notify the Residence Life Office that they have been activated. If the family wishes, they may remain in the University apartment.

In order to forward mail, the Residence Life Office would like the student to leave a forwarding address (a family member, parent, and guardian).

Any financial aid questions regarding loan deferment, satisfactory progress, etc. may be directed to the NDSU One Stop (701-231-6200 or 1-866-924-8969) ndsu.onestop@ndsu.edu.
