Description

Assuming leadership of Fargo Public Library’s seed program in Fall 2023, NDSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers solicit donations from numerous seed companies and distribute over 6,000 packets of seeds to community members each spring. Extension Master Gardener Seed Libraries are located within the Main Library and Dr. James Carlson branch of the Fargo Public Library.

Our Seed Libary will reopen in spring 2026

The NDSU Extension Master Gardener Seed Library makes gardening more accessible and equitable by removing barriers to seed aquisition and introducing gardening to children and non-gardeners. Further, the library allows experienced gardeners to try new varieties of their favorite vegetables and flowers at no cost.

To complement the seed library, Fargo Public Library and NDSU Extension Master Gardener sponsor educational talks each spring for beginning and experienced gardeners, distribute book recommendation lists, and organize periodic plant and seed swaps.
