Amy Rupiper Taggart Award for Excellence in Program Assessment
Amy Rupiper Taggart Award for Excellence in Program Assessment
The Amy Rupiper Taggart Award for Excellence in Program Assessment recognizes an NDSU program or unit that has used evidence of student learning to improve its curriculum, teaching, or student support. Nominations should describe changes the program has already made, rather than changes it intends to make.
Eligibility
Any NDSU academic degree program or academic unit.
How to nominate
Nomination has two parts. A department chair, dean, or assessment coordinator submits a nominating letter of no more than two pages identifying the program and summarizing why its assessment work merits recognition. The nominated program then prepares the narrative and supporting evidence described below. The two parts are submitted together as a single PDF.
Criteria
The narrative should identify:
- the types of student learning data the program collected during the past three academic years;
- how the program analyzed that data; and
- the changes made in response, along with any evidence of their effect.
The committee gives weight to nominations that show assessment used as part of the program's regular work rather than assembled for reporting purposes.
Nomination requirements
The narrative is limited to five pages, in addition to the nominating letter. Supporting evidence such as data tables, rubrics, curriculum maps, or assessment reports may be appended. Submit as a single PDF to Ann Fredrickson (ann.fredrickson@ndsu.edu) with the subject line "Rupiper Taggart Assessment Award." The deadline is February 26, 2027.
Selection and recognition
A subgroup of the Program Effectiveness Committee reviews nominations and selects the recipient. The award is presented at the Celebration of Excellence in September. Award amount: $1,000, placed in the recipient department's local funds.
