NDSU’s winter commencement ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Dec.15, at 2 p.m. in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. This is the second year the winter ceremony will be held in the complex.

“You are encouraged to participate in the 2017 winter commencement ceremony. This is a particularly important and exciting day for our campus,” said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. “Thank you for celebrating this milestone with our students.”

According to Jackie Schluchter, associate registrar, a total of 1,072 students are eligible to graduate. Currently, about 500 students have indicated they intend to participate in the ceremony; the deadline to sign up is Monday, Nov. 27.

“Commencement is a time-honored tradition exemplifying student success,” Schluchter said. “The excitement and pride felt for the students that have accomplished so much through their academic career gives reason for celebration.”

Hannah Quade, a graduating senior in industrial engineering and management from Bagley, Minnesota, has been selected as the student representative to address her fellow graduates and the audience. She has been active in the NDSU College of Engineering Ambassadors, as well as a member of the Society of Women Engineers. She has accepted a position as a manufacturing engineer with Integrity Windows and Doors of West Fargo.

The event also will feature a commissioning ceremony for graduating ROTC students.
