A showing of the documentary film, "Anonymous People," is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Union Century Theater. The film will be followed by a panel discussion.
The event is a collaboration between the NDSU Counseling Center, Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention programs and Campus Attractions. It is part of an initiative funded by the Transforming Youth Recovery grant the Counseling Center received last fall.
The initiative's goal is to build awareness and support within the NDSU community for students in recovery or choosing to live a sober lifestyle.
"Anonymous People" is a film about the 23.5 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. At the conclusion of the film, a panel of Todd Lewis, associate professor of counselor education; Mike Kaspari, agency director of First Step Recovery; and NDSU student Kevin Doran will discuss personal stories, challenges associated with stigma and building a community that supports recovery.
