The NDSU Bookstore is set to host an NDSU Faculty Author Event for Deirdre Prischmann-Voldseth, associate professor of entomology, and earth scientist and storyteller Tory Christie on Monday, Oct. 7, from noon - 2 p.m.

Prischmann-Voldseth is the author of "No Hugs!" the story of Zara who loves hugs and is confused and upset when her friend Alice doesn't want a hug. When the tables are turned, she appreciates her friend's perspective and realizes that a hug takes two willing individuals. It is her debut fiction picture book.

Christie’s “A Tiny Brown Monkey on the Big Blue Earth" starts with a tiny brown monkey in the middle of a jungle. The story shows ever-widening views from mountain to village to city, to country, continent, ocean and planet.

Books will be available for purchase and the authors will sign books and visit with attendees.

Prischmann-Voldseth earned her bachelor’s degree at Alfred University, master’s degree in entomology from Oregon State University and doctorate in entomology at Washington State University.

Christie lives in Fargo.
