Nicole “Nikki” German, associate professor of practice In the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences, has been honored with the Service Award by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. She will be recognized this summer at the NATA Clinical Symposium in Atlanta.

The award recognizes association members for their athletic trainer volunteer efforts on the local and state levels. German was among 22 organization members from across the country who received the honor.

“Throughout my professional career I have been fortunate to work and serve with really great athletic trainers who have inspired me to give back to the profession,” German said. “It is humbling to receive this award when I know the impressive works other athletic trainers are doing for the profession. I look forward to continuing my service at state and district levels.”

German has been active in the North Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association since 2003, serving as secretary/treasurer, president and current executive director. She also serves on the board of directors for the MidAmerican Athletics Trainers’ Association.

German earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from NDSU. She joined the NDSU faculty in 2001 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. German is the program coordinator for the Master of Athletic Training Program.

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association is the professional membership organization for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. It was founded in 1950, and now has more than 45,000 members worldwide. The group’s offices are located in Carrollton, Texas.
