Darwin Days events planned at NDSU

NDSU is set to host Darwin Days activities Thursday and Friday, Feb. 27-28.

An evolution pop-up museum is scheduled Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the A. Glenn Hill Center’s atrium. Participants can celebrate Darwin’s birthday with cake Feb. 28 from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Anthropologist John Hawks is set to give the keynote address, “Discoveries That Shed New Light on our African Origin,” Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. in the A. Glenn Hill Center, room 112. Hawks is the Vilas-Borghesi Distinguished Achievement Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Darwin Days commemorate the birthday of Charles Darwin, and highlights his many contributions to science as a naturalist, geologist and biologist. Darwin is best known for his work in evolution.

Darwin Days are sponsored by the Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Geosciences, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, College of Science and Mathematics and Cooperative Sponsorship at NDSU.
