Hispanic Heritage Month event announced

The NDSU Office of Multicultural Programs has announced activities celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

Latin game night

Memorial Union’s Hidatsa room, 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

An evening of fun with Latin music, cultural food, games and prizes.

Wednesday, Sept. 28

”No Más Bebés” documentary film

Memorial Union’s Anishinaabe Theater, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The award-winning film tells of the contribution of Chicana activists who sought to redefine reproductive politics. A post-film discussion will feature NDSU faculty, staff and community activists. Refreshments will follow.

Thursday, Oct. 6

Presentation by Bradley Benton, professor of history

Memorial Union’s Room of Nations, 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

“Reflections on Mental Health Awareness/Student Panel”

Memorial Union’s Sahnish room, 12:30 p.m.

Annette Vazquez of the NDSU Counseling Center and a panel of NDSU students will discuss personal experiences and strategies for coping with stress, racial incidents, and other mental health concerns from the Latin American perspective. Bring your own lunch and join the discussion. Light refreshments will be available.

The Memorial Union Gallery also will display art pieces by Latin and Hispanic artists in the Office of Multicultural Programs throughout the month.
