Refresher Courses

These refresher courses are designed for new faculty and instructors as well as those who want to refresh their teaching skills in these areas. Each course is designed to last an hour and a half. This is an excellent opportunity for new faculty and instructors to get to know other faculty. Each session is FREE to attend and open to faculty, instructors, GAs, TAs, and anyone else serving in a teaching role on campus.

Building Effective Assessments

This session explores how to determine assessment purpose, format, and type. We will also look at how to construct various types of assessments including limited response, constructed response, and projects.

Effective feedback maximizes chances that students will achieve learning goals and places the focus on learning. This session will offer strategies for providing effective feedback to your students.

Facilitating Classroom Discussion

A good classroom discussion can develop and monitor student understanding, promote social interaction, share knowledge and ideas, and enable critical thinking. However, facilitating a good discussion can be challenging. This session will explore strategies for structuring effective discussions.
