The College of Business already offers a strong foundation in finance education, with nearly 350 students majoring in finance and 85 minoring in banking. Center Leadership

Mark Jensen became the inaugural Director of the Center for Banking and Finance in February 2026, bringing more than 30 years of career banking experience, most recently as Senior Vice President and Risk Officer with Western State Bank.

He leads the day-to-day operations of the Center, oversees its budget, and teaches relevant courses in subject areas such as Management of Financial Institutions, Advanced Bank Management, Credit Analysis, Real Estate Lending, and Risk Management in Banking.

Under his visionary and collaborative leadership, the CBF aims to:

  • deliver a high-quality academic experience
  • prepare graduates for impactful careers
  • position NDSU as a trusted industry partner

Faculty affiliated with the Center play a vital role in delivering specialty courses. They work closely with industry partners and the Center director to ensure that the curriculum remains responsive to current and emerging trends.

Advisory Council

The Center is also guided by an advisory council, composed of the Center director, department chair, and representatives from each industry sponsor. The council helps to shape strategic priorities, ensure ongoing alignment with workforce needs, and deepen collaboration between NDSU and the regional financial sector.
