Last Chance to Register Your Workshop Proposal For Avenues of Scientific Discovery

Promote your college's STEM degree programs by offering a workshop.

Workshop proposals are due November 30, 2021.

The Office of Teaching and Learning seeks faculty, instructors, and graduate students (individuals or groups) to offer 45 or 90 minute workshops with fun and interactive components for Avenues of Scientific Discovery, a one-day event held April 2, 2022.

Students in grades 7-9 and 10-12 from regional schools are invited to attend this event. Students who are in a home school environment are also invited.

Faculty, instructors, and graduate students are invited to offer workshops for this event to make connections with area students who may be interested in the program of study you represent.

We encourage graduate students to offer a workshop for this event because it is an excellent way for you to build your CV, to gain experience in public outreach/extension, leadership, and teamwork, and to practice presenting your research in an engaging and educational way!

Avenues of Scientific Discovery is an annual event that showcases the fun and interesting aspects of a career in science, technology, engineering, and math. We want to make science approachable for all junior high and high school students, which might guide them into a field of study they would not have otherwise known about or been interested in. More important, showcasing different fields of study allows these students to experience postsecondary education.
