The NDSU Office of Teaching and Learning has hired, Dr. Sarah Crary as the online programs coordinator. In this position, Dr. Crary will work with NDSU colleges and departments currently offering or are interested in offering an online program. “I am excited to further NDSU’s land grant mission by helping coordinate programs offered in a flexible format which provides higher education access to more individuals” said Dr. Crary. NDSU currently offers 35 online degrees and certificates with several more in development.
In addition to ensuring the quality of the program, she will assist programs in coordinating all the elements needed to design, launch, and administer an online program. Of the position, Dr. Crary said, “I look forward to using my skills in educational leadership to help create a world-class slate of online degrees for individuals from across the state, region, and nation to participate in.”
Dr. Crary has a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota, Master of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education both from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Crary began her career at NDSU in 2018 in the School of Education as a faculty member within the educational and organizational leadership program. She primarily worked with educators who wanted to expand their leadership skills and abilities towards becoming a teacher leader or a building-level leader. Her research interests include information literacy, fostering equal access for blended learning, and understanding the experiences of new Americans in small urban settings. She is also the co-principal investigator for a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Teachers grant that helps teachers develop authentic hands-on lessons related to civil engineering. Dr. Crary’s service at NDSU has largely focused on accreditation as well as curriculum and program development.
