NDSU honors Agriculture faculty and staff for their work
North Dakota State University (NDSU) faculty and staff were recognized for their outstanding contributions in research, teaching, Extension, and support services during an awards ceremony on November 6.
The 34th Annual NDSU Agriculture Faculty and Staff Awards program featured award presentations by Greg Lardy, Joe and Norma Peltier Vice President for Agriculture; Carrie Hammer, Associate Dean in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources; Frank Casey, Associate Director of the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station; and Lynette Flage, Associate Director of NDSU Extension.
This year, 54 nominations were received for 11 awards. The 2024 award recipients are:
- Larson/Yaggie Excellence in Research Award – Xin Sun, associate professor, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
- Eugene R. Dahl Excellence in Research Award – William Wilson, University Distinguished Professor, CHS Chair in Risk Management and Trading, Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics
- Earl and Dorothy Foster Excellence in Teaching Award – Erik Hanson, assistant professor, Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics
- H. Roald and Janet Lund Excellence in Teaching Award – Tara Swanson, senior lecturer, Department of Animal Sciences
- William J. and Angelyn A. Austin Excellence in Advising Award – Matthew Olhoft, senior lecturer, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
- Excellence in Extension Early Career Award – Travis Hoffman, associate professor, Extension sheep specialist, Department of Animal Sciences
- AGSCO Excellence in Extension Award – Samuel Markell, professor, plant pathologist and interim chair, Department of Plant Pathology
- Charles and Linda Moses Staff Award – Megan Ramsett, research specialist, Department of Microbiological Sciences
- Donald and Jo Anderson Staff Award – Sara Schuchard-McGregor, administrative assistant, Langdon Research Extension Center
- Rick and Jody Burgum Staff Award – Ronald Johnson, ag research technician, AES Main Station Farm Shop
- Celebrate, Integrate and Embrace the Power of Diversity Award – Erika Berg, associate professor and Bison Strides Equine-assisted Services Program Director, Department of Animal Sciences
