Award Descriptions

The North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (NDAES) established this annual award to recognize outstanding faculty and Research Extension Center principal investigators who have achieved major accomplishments in research.

Individuals with 10 or fewer years of service to NDAES are eligible for nomination. Nominees must hold a research appointment in NDAES, be in the 2000 job band, and have made a significant research contribution that addresses an applied problem or increases the basic knowledge of the area investigated. Contact your supervisor's office or Kris Holt in the Ag Budget Office if you have questions about the job band.

Individuals with more than 10 years of service to NDAES (beginning with their 11th year and beyond) should be nominated for the Eugene R. Dahl Excellence in Research Award. To nominate other research staff, please refer to the Charles and Linda Moses Staff Award category.

Recipient receives a $1,000 honorarium.

The College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources (CAFSNR) established this award to recognize outstanding teaching faculty.

The award encourages and rewards excellence in teaching at all levels and among all disciplines. NDSU Agriculture established this annual award to recognize significant contributions to the mission of NDSU Agriculture by professional staff. Nominees must be in the 3000 job band and have at least three years of continuous service in a staff position with an appointment in CAFSNR, NDAES or NDSU Extension. This annual award recognizes significant contributions to the mission of NDSU Agriculture by office support staff. Nominees must have at least three years of continuous experience in the 5000 job band and hold an appointment in CAFSNR, NDAES or NDSU Extension, whether on campus or off campus. NDSU Agriculture established this annual award to recognize significant contributions to the mission of NDSU Agriculture by support staff in technical and paraprofessional, crafts/trades, or services positions. Eligible nominees include individuals, groups, departments or units, committees, and faculty- or staff-led initiatives that have made a significant impact through work completed or substantially advanced within the past calendar year.

Nominees must demonstrate impact in one or more of the following award criteria:

• Programs and Policies that Promote Universal Access - Designing and integrating programs, curricula, outreach opportunities and policies that promote universal access, opportunity, respect, and connection.
• Collaborative Opportunities and Partnerships - Expanding inclusive and collaborative opportunities and partnerships that help students, staff, and faculty succeed in a globally connected world.
• Innovative Educational and Extension Opportunities - Delivering innovative educational or Extension opportunities that enhance learning experiences for a wide range of audiences, backgrounds, abilities, locations, ages, races, ethnicities, and genders.
• Engagement of Nontraditional Agricultural Audiences - Increasing participation in programs and enrollment among students from nontraditional agricultural audiences.

Nominations may be submitted by any student, staff member, faculty member, or administrator. A review team from the Agriculture Council for Access and Opportunity (ACAO) will evaluate all nominations. To ensure a fair and impartial process, ACAO members nominated for the award will not participate in the review of nominations during this award cycle.

The recipient(s) will receive $2,000 in a local fund to support continued innovation in access and opportunity, equity, and comprehensive programming.
