Passport Process

The International Student and Study Abroad Services Office is a certified passport acceptance facility. Our office will now serve U.S. citizens of the NDSU and Fargo-Moorhead communities seeking to obtain a passport. We process passports for first-time U.S. passport holders by appointment only. Requirements for minors

Renewals can be done online or by mail. Confirm you meet the requirements for Renewal by Mail or Online.

Gather Documents for Your Appointment:

First-time applicants:

1. Evidence of U.S Citizenship and a photocopy of the front and back (black & white on single-sided 8.5 x 11 inch paper)
   This is often a certified copy of your birth certificate that has the seal or stamp on it. Each state varies on how to obtain a certified copy, please refer to your state government page.
   • Born in ND
   • Born in MN
2. Proof of Identification and a Photocopy of the front and back (black & white on single-sided 8.5 x 11 inch paper)
   Often a Driver's license or military or government issued ID (Social Security Cards are NOT accepted alone as valid form of ID)
3. Completed application (Do Not Sign)
   Print your completed application. You will be asked to sign during your appointment.

4. One Passport Photo
   Photos can be taken at Walgreens, CVS, UPS on 19th Ave. N, and AAA Fargo on 13th Ave. S in Fargo.

   *Pictures are good for ONLY 6 months.

5. Payments (2 separate checks or money orders)
   • Check or money order to "U.S. Department of State"
     $130 for Passport Book, $30 for Passport Card, and $160 for both. Expedited costs (optional): $60
   • Check or money order to "NDSU Study Abroad" acceptance facility for $35
